My nightly routine

Buddha and I spend part of our evenings on the bed, until he decides to swat me with
those claws!  I like my squeaky toys, and sometimes I even run downstairs after everyone
is asleep and bring one upstairs and make noise Buddha and I are pretty good friends now!

When it's time for bed Glenn fixes me a nice treat, he fills a Kong with peanut butter and
crunchy treats, that keeps me busy for a while!  I like to sleep in my big crate, it's like a den
and even has my own bright pink afghan that Glenn got at the Goodwill store.
Then at 3AM I sneak out and get back on the bed, under the covers.  With Buddha
sleeping on Merri's pillow and me on the bed, we need a bigger bed!

My FIRST Snow !

It's snowing in Colorado and I saw my first snowflakes tonight!

Hmmm, not sure what they taste like...

They are kinda fun to wear, though!!

I'm not realy sure what you're supposed to DO in this stuff, though...

This puppy likes to play!

I just found out what it is to be a puppy in a big open space and run and play!
I say, give me a 30 foot leash and let me dance and run and twirl on my feet!

Look at my tail!  I'm not scared now!  And to think a month ago I didn't like seeing one leaf blowing in the wind but now I am walking in them.  I am making noise with the leaves.  Today I had fun running through lots of leaves!  Look at my smile!

I am happy, tired and tangled up but did I ever have fun!  Peanut butter is an energy food.  Now it's time for a big puppy nap.

I've gained weight!

I'm a growing girl!

Me in August                           Me in October
about 25.2 lbs.                            about 39 lbs.

Halloween a la Hildie

Halloween Night

I went to the park and saw a crowd of people and ate peanut butter.  Then when everyone left I played in the leaves ---running, hopping, prancing and leaping!  What fun I had!  Before I met Glenn and Merri, I lived in a crate or kennel almost all the time but now I get to run around in leaves.

Then after the park, I came home where I spent hours trying to figure out this weird animal ---a cat!  Most of the night we both slept while Glenn tried to fix a crashed computer.  Then out of the blue, Buddha the cat started rolling around in front of me so my nap was was over!

Do you like the yellow and white bags.  Glenn and Merri carry them when we go to the park.  Each one says "OFFICIAL HELLHOUND LOVER".  Something to do with Lori Devoti and paranormal romance books and hellhounds.  I have never met a hellhound although two fighting dogs in Petsmart came mighty close.  They were scary.  In the white bag, Glenn carries my peanut butter jar, a long leash and my new coat from the Denver Dumb Friends league.  In the yellow bag is just about everything else.

A day at the park!

I've been going to the park with Merri and Glenn every evening...  We sit and watch the people and other dogs go by, and I get to nibble on cheese whenever they're close to us!

Then we take a tour ourselves..

Here I'm posing to be a Great Dane for Merri's Mom..

I wag my tail a lot more now, and I even set in a point when we saw a heron by our pond   I think I'm mostly a boxer-shepherd, though, those pointers just never get to pick up the birds...

Glenn gave me my first squeeky toy today, wow is that ever fun to make music with!

It is supposed to snow tonight in Colorado, maybe I'll get my first look at the white stuff!!

BIG Baby Steps or three weeks of being out and about

Glenn's car was really scary the first time I saw it but now the backseat of the car is second best to being home. I still don't like the sound of cars or trucks.

I discovered stairs and learned how to go up and down them.

Wheatridge Animal Hospital has some nice vets who pet me and did not hurt me.  Weight scales make big noises when I step on them but are less scary when a towel is draped over the metal.

I discovered wind and the noise it makes.

Leaves make a lot of noise skipping across pavement --- and move.

I know my name. I know the word “come” and “sit”, at least when other things are not distracting me. I know Buddha's name.   I know the route we take in the neighborhood.

I know where my home and my front door are.

I like playing with tennis balls, my Kong and sometimes my rope chew at home.

I went into Petsmart and met a man named Ryan who was nice to me. The third time I went into Petsmart, I found a quiet safe place way back in the back corner where I ate some treats.

People make a lot of noise but some stop to talk to me.

My home is quiet and safe.

Welcome to Hildie's Blog

I am a 7 month old special needs puppy adopted from Denver Dumb Friends League by Glenn and Merri into my new home in August 2008.  Noises and movement scare me.

I'm named after Hildegard von Bingen, a Medieval mystic, musician, and artist. Please check back soon for new entries.
